VEGAN PASTRIES IN BRUSSELS
Our vegan bakery is small on purpose. Instead of half-hearted plant-based versions of everything, we do a short list of things and do them properly: fresh banana bread and chocolate chip cookies, baked daily at our cafe on rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères 49, Bruxelles, near Grand Place.
The banana bread is moist, dense, and honest — real ripe banana, no weird substitutes. The chocolate chip cookies are chewy in the middle, crispy at the edges, loaded with proper chocolate. People who arent vegan order them all the time and never notice the difference.
On the drinks side, our vegan hot chocolate is genuinely special. Both the 54.5% dark and the 80% extra dark are naturally dairy-free — actual Belgian chocolate, no milk needed. Order it with any of our plant-based milks: we offer a wide range of dairy free alternatives such as soya, coco, almond and oat. Same goes for lattes, cappuccinos, matcha, chai — all can be made fully vegan with no upcharge.
If you're searching for "vegan bakery near Grand Place" or "plant-based cafe in Brussels" — come to rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères. We're two minutes from Central Station and right in the heart of the city. Local vegans from around Marollen and Saint-Géry already know about us. Tourists are catching on too.
WHY CHOOSE THE UNUSUAL
Best pairing: a warm chocolate chip cookie with a vegan hot chocolate (go 80% cocoa if you like it rich, 54.5% if you want it a bit softer) made with oat milk. Or a slice of banana bread with an oat milk latte in the morning.
Pro tip — come earlier in the day. The banana bread and cookies go fast, and once they're gone, they're gone until tomorrow.
The Unusual, rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères 49, Bruxelles. A small, honest vegan bakery in Brussels with proper vegan hot chocolate and a full range of plant-based milks. Open every day.
